Bore da and good morning,

I have just seen that the Senedd Health & Social Care Committee has recently closed a call for evidence on the prevention of ill health – obesity.

If it’s still admissible, I’d like to submit two reports from a series of work I carried out with colleagues back in 2011 for the NICE CPHE Obesity Prevention Programme. The evidence we created applies to key areas of focus for the Committee’s enquiry mentioned in the Call for Evidence, specifically:

The two reports (attached) are

·         Garside, R., Pearson, M., Hunt, H., Moxham, T., Anderson, R., & Lane, S. P. (2010). Preventing obesity using a ‘whole system’ approach at local and community level: PDG1 Identifying the key elements and interactions of a whole system approach. London: National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Report for NICE Centre for Public Health Excellence.

·         Hunt, H., Anderson, R., Coelho, H., Garside, R., Bayliss, S., & Fry-Smith, A. (2011). The effectiveness of Whole System Approaches to prevent obesity. London: National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Report for NICE Centre for Public Health Excellence.

As requested in the Call for Evidence, my details are below:

Name and contact details: Dr Harriet Hunt, University of Exeter Medical School, South Cloisters, University of Exeter, St Luke's Campus, Heavitree Road, Exeter, EX1 2LU, UK. Email h.a.hunt@exeter.ac.uk Staff web page: https://medicine.exeter.ac.uk/people/profile/index.php?web_id=Harriet_Hunt

This evidence is submitted as an individual, and I am over 18 years.

I am happy for my name to be published alongside this evidence, and do not require the Committee to treat any of the written evidence as confidential.

Wishing you all the best with the enquiry.

Diolch yn fawr and many thanks,

Harriet
